What Types of Projects do I Edit?<\/strong>
<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Whether it\u2019s a scholarly paper with citations, a nonfiction book on theology, a script or a screenplay, or a novel of any length, I can edit just about anything written in English (and probably already have!).<\/p>\n

I prefer to work with fast-paced fiction, especially science fiction, fantasy, horror, thriller, mystery, suspense, and countless related genres. I also enjoy working on nonfiction, especially if it has a creative twist to it or if it touches on Christian theology (as my higher education is in Pastoral Studies). I also really love working on short fiction.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Over the past several years, I have edited hundreds of manuscripts of various lengths, ranging from 160,000-word novels (and even longer) down to flash fiction stories of 1,000 words or less and everything in-between (including both fiction and nonfiction).\u00a0I specialize in speculative fiction (and I helped found a conference specifically for speculative fiction writers called\u00a0Realm Makers<\/a>), but I\u2019m comfortable editing in a variety of genres.<\/p>\n

I am routinely booked six or more months in advance which is a testament to the quality of my edits (so contact me today<\/a> to get on my schedule ASAP).<\/p>\n

To date, I have written multiple novels of my own. Near the end of 2014, I independently published my debut novel\u00a0Blood for Blood<\/em>, which won\u00a0the 2015 Cascade Award for Best Speculative Fiction Novel<\/a>. My debut children\u2019s book,\u00a0I\u2019d Punch a Lion in His Eye for You<\/em>, won the\u00a02016 Cascade Award<\/a>\u00a0for Best Children\u2019s Book.<\/p>\n

My very first\u00a0editing\u00a0client signed with a literary agency that works in both the Christian and general publishing markets, and soon after,\u00a0she signed a three-book deal with Enclave Publishing<\/a>. Her debut novel, which I edited, released in the fall of 2016. She then went on to sign\u00a0a two-book deal with Entangled Publishing<\/a>, and I edited one of the two books they acquired from her. (I link to it below in a different context as well.)<\/p>\n

I previously owned and operated three flash fiction magazines under\u00a0Splickety Publishing Group<\/a>. We produced three distinct magazines totaling 67 issues over a 7-year period.<\/p>\n

I taught a college-level class at Taylor University in the spring semester of 2016<\/a>\u00a0(but the link does not show me as faculty anymore) on Speculative and Alternate Genre Fiction. Additionally, I have taught at 40+ writers conferences since 2012.<\/p>\n
